A classic paranormal event is the a smell of perfume where there is no apparent reason for it. For example if you are on an investigation, you may have heard stories of a female ghost that haunts a certain location of the building and your natural idea is ‘wow we have just experienced a paranormal event’. You may well have, or it could be that the building has a few little secrets that you may not have known about. In your older type of buildings or dwelling, it may be that a high moisture problem causes bacteria to grow.
This is referred to as Aero-microbiological and this can effect structural components of building materials. Microbial growth can lead to biodeterioration a physical and chemical process which breaks down the structure of a building. The building starts to rot and decompose and this allows for spores to open up trapping smells and odours. Residual smells are also common, for example, if you have a person wearing any sort of perfume or deodorant and standing in a location even for a short amount of time and then that person leaves, you can still smell the perfume even an hour later. When someone else comes into the scene this odour is slowly released and if the ventilation is poor then bingo you have your paranormal event.
But how do we solve this? As a general rule of thumb, don’t wear any deodorant or perfume (sorry ladies) but evidence of contamination is one of paranormal investigations major cause of problems, but if you can say 100% that there was no contamination well you might just have a very cool bit of evidence.
